My Life in the printing industry is...time consuming to say the least. It has been way to long since that first post and so much has happened. I will endevor to catch up.
I try to follow what is happening in social media with subscriptions to ezines and Smart Briefs. I learn little tid bits as I go, but find it hard to follow through. There are so many levels to this amazing technology for my aging brain to comprehend. Learning how this media can help my small business and my customers is a challenge I will keep working on, even if it takes me the rest of my days. IT WILL!
I signed up on twitter yesterday to see if I would get feedback on a new laser printer we are looking to purchase. No responses yet, I guess I have to build up my list of peeps before I get much.
Today I learned a smidgen about RSS and need to get signed up to follow some of the bloggers I have been reading.

Jumping on the Blog Wagon
This last Friday, AAF Central Texas presented advertising and marketing professionals with the most complete advertising event of the year, Fashionably Fresh Ideas. This marks the 7th annual Summer Seminar for the organization. The seminar was centered on fresh ideas from top industry professionals focusing on advertising's hottest trends.
Keynote Breakfast Speaker, Kayne Gillaspie is the designer and owner of Johnathan Kayne, LLC., inspired the audience with his personal experiences in building his brand ..."from Runway to Reality." Kayne's dynamic personality set the tone for this event.
My company, Spectrum Printing in Killeen, Texas, hosted Ted Murphy, founder and CEO of IZEA. "The Social Media Symphony" took us all by Storm! Ted is the reason I have written this blog today. His presentation showed all in attendance the tremendous opportunity to enhance the effectiveness of marketing by utilizing social media sites and tools. I figured I needed to jump on and see where the storm carries me, my company and my customers. Thanks for the kick in the pants, Ted.
Mike Naples, direct marketing specialist with the U.S. Postal Service, gives a comprehensive overview of "Targeted, Tailored and Timely Innovations in Direct Mail. I wish I could have found a way to sit in on this seminar since I am a printer. I can only hope he gave all my customers some great ideas that I can put down on paper for them!
Rod Ulrich did a tremendous job bringing it all together for us as the Keynote Lunch speaker. We learned much about the inner workings of the largest independently owned ad agency in America, The Richards Group. Rod led us through the evolution of Chick-fil-A's big idea, cows with a mission to get everyone to "eat mor chikin." It was an entertaining and informative look at designing a brand and keeping it fresh and relative for years to come.
As president of AAF Central Texas, I want to express my gratitude to the Summer Seminar Committee for all the hours of hard work that went into creating this extremely successful event, especially our chairman and creative director, Randy McCauley.
Warm thanks to our members and friends for supporting AAF Central Texas and this event.
Heartfelt thanks to our sponsors for underwriting the seminars. . .
